Outside

“Outside”
Christopher Andrew

I sit in my room
And I ponder on the things I see outside
I stand up from my stupor
And I reflect on the things I feel inside

A longing for freedom from the walls I have made
So easily entangled by my own wretched demise
An attitude of the heart, an obsession of the mind
The candle burns dim today….

Twisted and turned around, forced to face the light
I ask myself what have I done
Captured by beauty and raptured by hope
Brought to reason by Truth

Shall I be a man left to wander around in the mud?
Or be like one who shuts the shutters to block out the sun?
Do we forget to play in the rain? Because to others it appears insane
Oh beautiful day, you come knocking at my door

“I’m going outside now, OK everybody?!”
I won’t be back for dinner or for supper
I will feast on this day and I won’t look back
I have to get back to the war of my mind, need to lead the attack

I sit in my tree
And ponder on the things I see inside
I stand from my lookout
And reflect on the things that I feel outside

Chris, you have real talent...I liked the line, "A longing for freedom from the walls I have made." I see some I´ve made!
