Sea-Fare
SEA- FARE
Christopher Andrew
Waves crashing on the bow the captain looks across the squall
No idea of where he is and how he got to be here
He’s the one who has to lead these wretched men across the seas
But he himself is losing it : his mind , his heart, his soul
Wind is howling up across the deck while the crews holding on for life
In his drafty cabin quarter the captain begins to think of his wife..
This life of the sailor has left him lonely even though being married....
“Where is she now” he ponders, his heart starts to ache.
Seven months ago is when they last embraced ....and it was so cold
Bitter and distant she seemed, and he could not blame her
But the sea called him, like a master to a slave
And he had to go , like a bear to his cave
Certain it seems to be that the ship is lost at sea
The hopes of all are drowning in this torrential weave
Wind is howling like starving wolves
And the Ship’s being swept starboard
The hull begins to crack and break like a thundering chord
And the dark green water starts to gush and pour
The captain cry’s out to the swathing darkness
hoping to be heard ,,that in the midst of this shroud
Of despair , gloom , and hopelessness... there abides a Strong Tower
One Final Wave, One Final Wind
They come roaring through like a knock to the chin
The once mighty ship sharply descends
As the living search for that which would deliver
The captain finds the only life boat
It holds two more and the rest have to float
A head count is taken and all are there.
Gasping for the next breath of air
Sitting by the shores of the sea
Looking out toward the horizon
To where his vessel she had last seen
She cries out for her man, the One
The one whom she loved for his passion
Even though she often panicked at his obsession
The man who he was becoming was admiral
But the life he led had turned too feral
Wanting him now to simply come home
Throw out the oars and learn of the son whom inside her she bore
Presently she is left to gaze out at the cresting white foam
On the tumulus terror of torrential power
The captain and his men hopes subside
Wishing for those days of youth and the scent of a flower
To each other they begin to confide
Drift they drift for hours upon hours
The strong west wind pushes them onward
“Land Ho”, would have been proclaimed from the crows nest
Had they not been floating on a old ship board
But a young sea otter surfs by on a crest
Land must be near for the otter would not stray
To far out, to where he was prey
Their thirst was intense and their bodies did ache
So their intent was pertinent that this was not to be a fake
The billowing gray mass above begins to clear
A small white dove swoops down as if to remove all fear
The rhythm of living and life is felt in the air
The captain feels hope like a divine promise
Every fiber in his being longs for one whom he holds so fair
Optimism shines as a rainbow frees from this traumas
A child from inside a dually expectant wife
Gives a movement that beckons of pure life
The union is near and close at hand
And music is sailing up from a parade marching band
Through the winds of torment and torture
They came out decrepit ,having tasted the bitter myrrh
The wave picks the raft up as if it were a strong arm
Placing it forcefully on the rocky shores edge
Located right down the hill from an old stone farm
The captain feebly hobbles up and trips over the boulders
The crew follows after, some being carried on shoulders
On the soft green meadow overlooking the sea
The captain looks out over the vanished squall
Knowing now where he is and why he is there:::
A loving wife and new born life
After the passing masquerade found in the marching parade
A wife with child is seen walking by
In the distant horizon a fatigued array of men she sees
Led by a Captain who has sailed the seven seas
The spark is lit in their eyes from a far off
As their gaze meets the other
The emotion is thick,,, tears and a nervous cough
Reunited with her ...He simply wants to just Love Her..
